In November 2022, the European Union adopted the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This requires a large number of companies to report on the impact of their activities on people and the environment from 2024. To comply, now is the time to prepare to collect data and set up the governance structure. This takes time and is a huge challenge. MVO Nederland is organising the Community of Practice: getting started with CSRD to make that challenge easier for you.
De Community of Practice in het kort
Four monthly meetings on Tuesday afternoons and one on Thursday afternoons.
Experts from Grant Thornton, EY, Nauta Dutilh and the Netherlands Institute of Chartered Accountants (NBA), independently supervised by CSR Netherlands
Compounding a regular group of companies with similar challenges who learn from each other in an interactive way
Theoretical side is directly combined with the practical side through personal assignments, the exchange of challenges and mutual discussions
By the end, you will have gained an integral insight into the requirements of the CSRD and you will know what needs to be done within your organisation to prepare for this
The meetings will take place on four days: Tuesday 5 March, Tuesday 9 April, Thursday 25 April and Tuesday 21 May, each in the afternoon from 14:00 to 17:00. Depending on the needs of participants, there will also be room for after-dinner discussions and networking afterwards.
Each meeting consists of plenary parts and break-out sessions. In the plenary parts, you will get theory on a specific topic explained by an expert. In the break-out session, you will have further guided discussions with participants about real-life challenges and actions.
The structure of the meetings is as follows:
Ambition, goals and commitments
Measurement and reporting
Control and audit
Governance and leadership
.
By the end of the series, you will not only know how to comply with CSRD obligations, but be motivated to make sustainability an integral part of your business strategy.
Unique: learn together with a colleague and peers
A unique feature of this programme is that you participate in duo form. This strengthens the cooperation with your colleague and helps to implement the necessary actions faster in your organisation. And because you work on a common challenge in a fixed group, there is room to go deeper into the practical part of the CSRD guideline. We also use a digital platform to exchange data, documentation and experiences - also outside the scheduled meetings. Here you can also find participants from previous editions, with whom you can spar about implementation issues. So you really become part of our CSRD community!

If you have already participated in part one of the Community of Practice or if you already report according to the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD), then the Community of Practice: getting started with CSRD part II might be for you. During this programme, you will learn not only what is expected of you, but also how to translate this into your organisation's daily practice.
In seven interactive practical sessions, you will receive support from different disciplines in implementing CSRD and CS3D and learn to combine theory with practice through personal assignments, sharing challenges and examples.

What is the CSRD?
The CSRD directive requires large companies to report on issues such as CO2 emissions and social capital, as well as the impact you have as a company on biodiversity and human rights violations in the chain. The directive is an extension of the existing European directive around sustainability reporting: the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD). The CSRD will apply since 1 January 2024 to companies currently covered by the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) and from 2025 to large companies not currently covered.
Do you have questions or would you first like an exploratory discussion to find out if this is something for you, your colleagues and your organisation? Christian will be happy to help you further. Of course, you can also register directly.
