Future Up endorses call for continuation of climate and energy transition

Future Up signs a letter from the Civil Society Alliance in which member organisations advocate for vigorous pursuit of the climate and energy transition. The letter also includes concrete policy proposals. The Social Alliance is a foundation that connects public-private parties to jointly work on scalable solutions to societal challenges.

"We underline the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation for making the economy more sustainable. We hope the Schoof cabinet will take these proposals on board towards the million note and the announced additional plans to meet the 2030 climate target," said Ankie van Wersch, managing director of Future Up.

At the same time, Future Up thinks these proposals could be more ambitious: "The letter lacks proposals for phasing out the fossil energy system and scaling up circular and bio-based building. Moreover, our commitment is to truly sustainable production processes and less to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). A clear vision on space allocation and agriculture is also lacking."

Step in the right direction

Nevertheless, Future Up considers the letter a much-needed step in the right direction. "We think it is important to put our name to this and to advocate as a collective for the transition to a sustainable and circular economy," he said. Future Up is also independently committed to making the need for ambitious plans for a new economy clear. With the companies in our network, we show that sustainable business can and should become the standard," Van Wersch concludes.
