It is 2040. Railways, dykes, waterways and utilities are part of a thriving nature network. Ecoducts, herb-rich grasslands, fauna passages, stepping stones and shelters are sprouting like mushrooms. Biodiversity has improved significantly, at least compared to 2024. Back to this year. The year in which infrastructure companies jointly agree to further use their acreage - as much as eight per cent of the Netherlands - for biodiversity restoration. Because that is what we will do during this networking event.
Frontrunners from the infrastructure sector come together to underline ambitions for nature-inclusive infrastructure. By signing a sector agreement on nature-inclusive infrastructure, we ensure that clients, contractors, infrastructure managers, contractors, engineering firms and landscapers will work together. The goal? The Netherlands' infrastructure as an important pivot in a nature-inclusive society. In this, infrastructure does not cause significant damage to species and ecosystems, and instead contributes substantially to nature restoration and development.
